Initial Ideas - Written Storyboard

When creating and coming up with different ideas for the storyboard, in our group we listened to the song we had chosen to use for our music video and discussed all our different ideas together and chose which would be suitable to have in our music video.
In our storyboard we chose to create a love story in the music video as the lyrics to our song are to do with love. We came up with our ideas for the music video so they went well with the lyrics.
In bold is the lyrics and underneath i have written the ideas we have come up with to include in our music video for them lyrics.

Im still feeling the rain fall
And bouncing off my skin

It is raining outside then you see the location, camera pans round. You see a young girl in a red coat walking towards the camera in the rain with no umbrella and with the rain bouncing off her skin. She's singing the lyrics while walking.

How long do i have to wait for
The sun to shine again

She looks up at the building and she see's a young man who is an artist through a window. Evertime she will walk past this window he will be painting a different picture each time.
They both notice eachother but firstly she looks at him painting then he turns to look outside and sees her walking away.

Come out, paint me the rainbows
I can follow it
Idont know where it'll take me
But i like wondering

The man is painting a picture of a rainbow. It is not raining outside. The girl comes out of work, walks down the stairs very happy, almost skipping. She bumps into the man, but they dont notice eachother until they both turn around. The camera is then on him and it slides into split screen of both of them smiling.

Wherever you are
Where will you be

From the split screen the camera then slides onto her singing the lyrics. Walking home and wondering where the man is.

There will be three images of the sequence of her and him going home and getting into bed. These will appear after one another and will last for 1 second. These will be shown in split screen. We got this idea from our research while looking at the music video Bad Day by Daniel Powter.
Image of her unlocking her front door then walking inside, then to her in big jumper making hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows, then she walks up stairs to bed.
Then it will show three images of him firstly unlocking his front door with his canvas under his arm, then he makes coffee and then walks up the stairs to bed.

Following a rainbow

Show a couple of seconds of her getting into bed, then of him getting into bed. Then split screen and they both put their mugs down and turn off their lamp. All of this will be shown for a quick second. Then split screen still of them tossing and turning in bed, having difficulty trying to sleep.

Im gonna stop in the middle
Hang my feet off the edge

Split screen and they both get out of bed. Camera view from the floor as you see their feet at the side of the bed as they get out.

I got no reason to worry
I know i'll find the end

Split screen of both of them beginning to draw a picture with a rainbow in it. Pitcure comes together as one

She is dreaming of the place where they met , she see's the man and walks over to him but as she gets there he disappears/ she wakes up before she gets to him.
The dream will be very colourful (we will enhance the colour) with hazy light.

Images will last about a second each in split screen, shown one after another like before.
She falls off sofa, she's then in the bathroom cleaning her teeth, then she grabs her bag and goes out the front door.
Same with the man, he gets out of bed, cleans his teeth in bathroom then grabs his canvas and goes out the front door.

She's walking to work , she stands outside the door where she and the man bumped into eachother previously. She waits for him to turn up.

Following a rainbow
Stuck in my mind
Im wasting time
Im still on my own

She's becoming impatient, pacing up and down, looking at her watch.

I never thought that i would find my way

She then just looks sad and down.

Into the light
Dreaming to find

The man is rushing along the road to meet her, but he is late. He constantly checks his watch.

On the way to see her he drops his paintings which makes him even more late.

She has given up on waiting for him and goes into work, she looks back to check is he is there but he's not so she carries on walking into work.

Following a rainbow

The camera follows her from behind as she walks up the stairs to work. The man comes rushing around the corner then he slows down as he realises she's not there. He gets annoyed at himself and walks off looking down.

Camera is on the man waiting outside her work in the evening with the paintings he has done. You see her leaving her work/office coming down the stairs. You then see her from his view opening the door and coming out. Then from her view you see him showing her all the paintings he has done since he saw her. He then shows her the little sketch he drew that evening when he couldn't sleep, she then pulls out a bit of paper from her pocket and shows him it, it is a little sketch of what she drew on the same evening. The sketches match.

Im following a rainbow

Although its sunny outside it then beings to rain and it becomes cloudy outside. The man then gets out a rainbow umbrella and holds it abover her. The sun then starts to come out.

They start to walk off together holding hands. Camera zooms out then it goes to a long shot of them together and then a rainbow could be painted on to the screen. They could walk through a arch and then we can photoshop the colours of a rainbow onto it to make it look as if they have walked under a rainbow, or try to get a photo of a rainbow.

(Singing then dies out slowly)
